Class 4E Class Talent Showcase 2005

Hello everyone! Today I have a very exciting update.. Something that I have been waiting for.. Something that we have been putting in hard work for.. And it paid off.

Yes, it's finally here. The annual Assembly Class Talent Showcase! Yes.. Last year our class sent my band Not Yet to perform and we played qing tian by Jay Chou. Hmm though it wasn't really good cos the singers were quite screwed up, many people still enjoyed it. Cos.. Aiyah.. Band performance what.. And bands are not really common. This year we had something much better in store for everyone..

My day started with me lugging to school the keyboard stand which I borrowed from church. It was 6.45 am in the morning when I reached school, and I met Charissa at the bus stop, where she passed me the light sticks which she helped me buy. Yupx.. They are for the class.

After flag raising, about 14 students from 4E, including myself, skipped reading period to transport instruments. I tell you, it was hilarious! We were split into 2 groups, and 1 group followed Vinci to the Multi Purpose Hall to collect the drum set and the rest went to music room to get the amplifiers and keyboard. We then stashed the equipment in the library, which was just next to the Auditorium, since the auditorium could not be open until later in the morning. It was kinda funny, cos we were stopped by Mrs Mok, and she was like "What are you all doing? Carrying equipment during reading period?!" And we were like "Oh, Mrs Chan gave us special permission, we have a performance later." And Mrs Mok was like "Oh, hurry up." Haha.. The scene was really hilarious cos it was reading period and the whole school was busy reading, it was extremely quiet and most students were in class. And there we were, 14 people carrying instruments. Really funny. Anyway just a clarification, 4E people ARE united, but of course, they readily agreed to the carrying partly cos they could skip reading period. =P

The next 80 minutes was one of the most exciting moments for Not Yet. There we were, sitting in class for lessons, but in our hearts we were thinking, "Oh my gosh! This is it.. We have to put up a great performance!" Our guest singer Jian Yang was really really nervous and I'm really touched that he was revising the lyrics during lesson! Hehe.. We really practised very hard for this, and were extremely motivated and pressurized as we HAD to beat 4D. Because last year 4E was arguably had the best class performance, and this year we had to do the same. So far performances by 4A, 4B, and 4C has not been up to expectations, but 4D was indeed a force to be reckoned with. Nicholas, together with his class, played An Jing by Jay Chou and it was pretty impressive. Very emotional, they had chinese flute, double bass, keyboard, piano. Really cool performance. But we were determined to win them and we believe we could.

The bell rang. Recess. Oh. My. Gosh. Almost immediately, the band and a few other students left for the library where we speedily set up the equipment in the auditorium. Vinci brought his video camera and he was busy filming some "behind-the-scenes" footage. Time in the auditorium seemed to pass really quickly. Though recess was 40 minutes, we had to rush a lot to ensure that everything was set up in place. After the amps and drum sets were set up, we practised once through, and I tell you, the sound was beautiful! The drum set was not too loud and the volume of the guitars were just nice. So happy man. And in a while.. The equipment was set, the stage was ready, and all we had to do was to sit back, and wait for our turn.

Start of assembly was some boring talk from MOE. At 10.25 am, Not Yet left the auditorium and went back to class to change. Our colour scheme was brown and black, and Jian Yang wore a light blue shirt to show contrast! Hehe.. Then after that we went to the toilet to style our hair, Jian Yang and Rui Yi brought hair spray and hair gel respectively, and we all styled mohog (i dunno how to spell, someone tell me)! It's very funny and we took a picture in front of the mirror. Shall try to post soon. Then after that we waited in the library for quite a long time. Finally Eddie called, and yes, it was our turn to go in already. As we opened the door, the timing was just right, as Mrs Chan called for the commencement of the talent showcase. So once we went in everyone was like "Whoah..." And then there was a shocking twist! Mrs Chan said that the judging would be done by Mr Edmund Teo!!! We were furious lor.. Cos it was really unfair that we are judged by some other judge.. Thoughts were running through our mind.. "Would he be stricter? Would we be able to do well?" Anyway there was nothing we could do, so we went up to stage to set up the microphones. This year Mrs Chan recommended me to place a microphone by the keyboard as she said using amplifier would produce a muffled sound. Fine. So I decided to do that and entrusted the sound and lights control to Eddie, who would be stationed at the back.

Ok so as the microphones were set up, Ying Hern was connecting his laptop to the auditorium's projector. Once this was done, we were ready, and all of us hid behind the screen. The lights went off, and everyone cheered. 4E started waving their lightsticks, and the crowd waited in anticipation.

A 1 minute 3D animation movie made by Ying Hern was screened. It introduced the band members and the instruments we played, etc. Hmm really hard to describe here, but it's really zai. Everyone was like "Whoah!" and "Ooh!". I hope I can find some way to upload it.

After that the stage lights came on, and the screen was slowly lifted up. We were already behind the screen, so it was like, we were slowly "revealed" and people were laughing cos it looks really funny. Then after that I moved to my keyboard and this is it, the performance. The first song is a fast song, Rock Show by Blink 182, and on Vinci's count, we started ROCKING! It's kinda difficult to describe the actual playing scene, but all of us were grooving to the music, especially Jian Yang and Han Lu! However, the vocals microphone for the first song is very soft, and everyone could barely hear Jian Yang! Grr.. Mediatech sucks.. Woops.. =P

After the first song there was a short break and there actually were a group of Aphelion people shouting "Jian Yang hao3 shuai4!" Really really hilarious and touching.

The next song was Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and this time round, the vocals microphone was much louder! Jian Yang's singing was very good and everyone was mesmerized by our music. Lol.. And of course, I tried to groove like the F.I.R keyboardist Ian.

The guitar solo was PERFECT! It was loud enough, the sound was clear, and everyone was just enjoyed it! After that was Eugene's bass solo, really good also! 4E was waving their lightsticks about, and the others.. I don't know... Maybe they were too stunned by the quality of the performance that they did not want to clap with the song or respond in any way. Haha.. And just like that... Our performance was over in a while. And man, I was so so touched. I was so totally overwhelmed with emotions. Satisfaction, happiness, etc. We have put in so much effort, and that was it, it paid off. This was for 4E, and we have gained everyone's respect. I'm sure that we have impacted the audience, and they would remember us for quite a long time. We left the stage, with pride and glory, winners in our hearts.

After a while, Mr Edmund Teo gave his comments. He mentioned that Californication was a very popular song in the past, and it was one of his personal favourites. However, the singing of Rock Show could not really be heard, which was really a pity. Sigh.. Whose fault? I mentioned le right? Haha.. Stage presence really could, lots of atttitude he said. Haha.. Pitching and rhythm good also.. So he gave us 8 for pitching and rhythm, and 9 for stage presence.. So at that time we were already very nervous already, cos we got the same for pitching and rhythm as 4D, but 1 mark lesser for stage presence. As for bonus marks (max 5), he said that he had a mark in mind already, and whether it would go up or down would depend on the audience's response. I was so touched! Cos the whole auditorium was filled with applause. Not only did our own class cheer, the rest cheered for us too! But ultimately we only got 4 for bonus, and we were so so disappointed. Sigh.. After all the hard work and the pro 3-d animation introduction as well and we only got a total of 21/25! There were actually some "Boos" of disagreement from the audience. Felt really underrated, and it was really unfair. To be judged by a different teacher and getting a lower mark than 4D. ARGH! Anyway there wasn't anything we could do about it, I just felt really satisfied that we were able to put up a good show for everybody, and I'm sure that we did a good job. It's just sad that we got a change of judge, but it's ok, we have put in our best.

Nearing the end of the assembly, Miss Clarinda Chow actually requested for Vinci to stand up! Haha.. She was like "Who's the drummer?" And Vinci stood up and she asked what his name was and then praised him! Lol.. In front of all the sec 4s! Man.. Vinci must be feeling so high and ya-ya... Haha.. She was like "You're very good!" And everyone was cheering and clapping for him. Really memorable moment.

After the assembly, we had to pack up our instruments, and Miss Chow was talking to us and praising us. She asked us where we practised, and encouraged us to pursue our passion and not give it up. I totally agree with her, music is our passion, and nothing is going to stop us from achieving great heights..

Really long entry.. Few unhappy points about this performance as well.. Many people said they couldn't hear the keyboard! Grr.. I don't know, Eddie said it was soft, Zhao Long said it was soft, and Job said one had to pay special attention to hear it. Well, I don't know, keyboard plays a minor role in these songs, it is a pity that it was too soft, there's no use blaming Mediatech now.. Too bad lor.. Anyway, I still want to thank mediatech for their help lah, in making our performance a success.. Really long entry. 2000 words? I don't know. There's a bitter-sweet feeling in me now, bitter that this extravaganza has ended just like that, and our low mark. But well, it's not all about the marks isn't it? We play music because we enjoy it, and that's our sole purpose. I feel sweet over its success. What now you might ask.. Well, Not Yet will definitely continue to practise hard and perform for the next school event, and strive to achieve greater heights. Once again, thank you for all your support, it has been a wonderful time performing for all of you. All of you out there has made the class talent showcase a pleasant memory, and certainly one that I would remember for the rest of my life.

THANK YOU!

Hi hi! Rare update once again.. Cos I'm finally free! Like a bird.. Yupx.. No more tests for this term, other than chinese in week 10, which is rather negligible. Wow this term really passed SO SO SO quickly man.. Sigh.. Though my grades are better than term 1, they're still quite sucky. Really afraid that I can't get promoted to JC1. Oh wells..

Next week is the class talent showcase already. Can't wait! This year everyone is taking the talent showcase more seriously than last year, cos Mrs Chan adopted a marks system, so everyone is striving to be the best. 4D got 23, 4E must get higher! Not gonna say who's the singer and what song we're gonna play, so just wait for that day yea?

I think I'm damn careless. Sigh. I hope that won't cause me to screw up my maths test. Due to some errors made by Mrs Khoo, our most recent maths test had 7 bonus marks! Well at least that would ensure that I wouldn't die so badly, cos the test is quite tricky.

I need a game badly man.. Sigh. Borrowed Sims 2 from Jacqueline and played it. Hmm.. Very realistic and good graphics, but not really my style. Coronation Plaza now has this shop selling pirated PC games, so I got Call of Duty but it can't work on my comp! Grr.. My sister like never upgrade the comp for a few years already. Anyone has good games to lend? Perhaps if I'm really desperate I will set up my Playstation ONE and play the old games again.. Haha.. Might be fun.

Kinda sian lah.. It's like when you are confined by tests and assignments, you desire freedom and liberation but when you have that you find that you have nothing to do. Well, I see what I can do with the time I had. Been sleeping and wasting time. Maybe I shall see what books are worth reading and read em while I have the time. Hmm.

This term's sabbaticals quite nice! Aroma Chemistry.. It's better than I expected. The theory part is damn sian tho, but they are teaching us how to make perfume, and we're supposed to create our own product, identify the target audience, design the packaging, and then come up with an advertising compaign. So apprentice-y! I hope that I would be driven by my passion and get the maximum 5 chemistry ACE points man..

Speaking of Apprentice, final two already. Wow.. It's supposed to be exciting.. But too bad my classmate spoilered me already, and I know who won. Haha anyway even if they didn't spoiler me it's kinda obvious who won lah.. Cos the standard of the 2 finalists are like so different..

Amazing Race season finale on Wednesday!! I can't wait man. Go Rob and Amber! I really want them to win cos I think that their team spirit is very good and I want them to be the only couple to have won both Survivor and The Amazing Race! That would be so cool.

Ok I'm talking nonsense already. Until the next time I feel like blogging.. Bye..

Hi everyone! Just a quick update. Sigh.. School's has been very sucky (as usual). Really busy, everyday is like a burden to me. Especially chemistry, every practical lesson is like so demanding and stressful. And that person keeps yelling and screaming at us as though we didn't pay school fees. I mean seriously, we're here to learn right? That's why we pay school fees and that's why she's paid! And the reason she became a teacher should be because she has a passion to teach! I'm slowly losing my interest in Chemistry man..

Tomorrow's my birthday. And my dad's. We share the same birthday.. WOw! I'm actually his birthday present, which I find is kinda cool, cos my parents have always wanted a boy. Yesterday Vinci gave me a silver bracelet for birthday and eugene gave me the fir new album!! It's DAMN DAMN NICE.. Woohoo.. I LOVE EUGENE! I'm not gay btw. And Pow gave me a tin of sweets. Haha.. Thanks everyone!

Got to go.. Bye!

Hello everybody! Long time no update.. Haha.. My blog layout is still screwed.. Whee I have no piano today because my piano teacher is sick so this gives me some time to blog.. Muahaha.. School has been pretty much the same.. Rushed through my MRP and it's really very lousy.. I have 2 events I want to blog about today.. Lol..

Easter Evangelistic Extravaganza (EEE) 27th March 2005

The weeks of planning and rehearsing finally paid off on this eventful day. Basically, this is an event organized by my church Youth Department. As its name suggests, this is an Easter Extravaganza and it is also evangelistic, meaning we also aim to reach out to our friends out there who do not know the Lord Jesus Christ. Anyway, this time round, I managed to invite Min Kai, Qi Kai, and Jun Yu so that we could have fun together and also introduce them to christianity as a religion. Had to report at church at 8.00 am to help out with the final decorations, and then went for Easter Service. After the final skit rehearsal (i was involved in the skit =P), my parents drove me to Tiong Bahru to pick up Min Kai and Junyu (Qi Kai was late), then sent us to church. The first game was simple, had to decode a card you received to reveal a name, and then pass it to the person. Something like a mini ice-breaker. After that was a buffet lunch.. Quite nice.. Before I could even properly FINISH my lunch, I had to go dress up for the skit! DOH. So ok, I changed into my business suit and Elizabeth put some sick powder on my face and Michelle attached the horns on my head and Ivy drew the moustache and eyebrows. One of the WORST moments of my life, but hey, how often do you get dressed up like that? Hehe.. So it's quite cool after all.. All this happened while the rest were playing the second game outside.. Which I'm not involved in.. Ok. Time for the skit! I really thank God mans! Cos the skit is supposed to have an eerie atmosphere, and the lights were off. Then after the MC said "sit back, relax, and enjoy the show" there was thunder. Real thunder. Just on cue! Hmmx.. Good! So anyway my role is Chief Devil, and Wendy was Ah-Lian Devil, Leanne was Businesswoman Devil, Christabel was Bimbo Devil, and Kun Man was No-Confidence Devil. Hmm I shall not type the WHOLE skit out, those who want the photos and video (available soon) can approach me and the script as well. =D Anyways the skit was really humourous, I'm glad people laughed. Then after that was discussions. About christianity obviously. After that had to remove make-up! Sick man.. So hard to remove.. But i'm glad the stupid moustache was able to come off easily! Hahax.. Then went to TZ room to play table soccer etc. Ok that's a bit anti climax liao so yupp.. That's all for EEE! A success!

April Fool 2005

A year has passed just like that. The day is here again. April Fool. Last year our class 4E pranked Mr Low by hiding in the toilet before his lesson and writing "Lesson in Library" on the whiteboard. Besides this, we arranged the desks and teacher's table and face them backwards. However, Mr Low was quite smart and soon found the whole class hiding in the toilet. It was a memorable experience for him, and great class spirit on our part.

This year, we attempted something much more challenging and interesting. Initially, there was no plan to prank any teacher, but thanks to Vinci's last minute idea, we briefed the class about it and we executed it well! The target for this year was our chinese teacher Mr Tan Yew Keng and it was a success! Thanks to the class spirit of class 4E and Mr Low who let us off from computer lab 5 minutes earlier to prepare the trick.. Lol.. Ok.. Now let me narrate the story from a 3rd person perspective.

English lesson at the computer lab has just ended and class 4E hurries back to class for chinese lesson. Mr Tan enters the class, the class greets him, but 9 desks remain empty. Mr Tan questions where these people are, and the class remains silent. They are apparently distracted and distraught, there's some slight fear in their eyes, and an atmosphere of gloom fills the room. Finally, Ryan stands up and explains the story, which was backed up by Koon Wah. The story goes like this.

Class 4E was having english lesson at the computer lab. English Teacher Mr Low had to return to the teacher's office to retrieve some worksheets. The class is not under supervision and students start chatting. Vernon is restless and goes over to play with Jian Yang. He starts grabbing him and harrassses him. Eventually, Jian Yang is bruised by accident and is obviously pissed at Vernon. Clement sees this happening and hurls verbal abuse at Vernon, who defends himself with more verbal abuse. The two get physical and start grabbing each other's shirts. Eventually Clement is knocked into a table with a huge force and his arm is dislocated (Clement once dislocated is arm). He wails in pain and the rest of his clique, namely Rui Yi and Johnathan, jumps to his defence. At the point of time, the situation goes out of control. Eugene, Vinci, Nicoll, and Weng Woh, jumps to Vernon's defence and a fight breaks out. Soon after, Mr Low returns to class. Wtinessing what has happened, he calls for the ambulance to take Clement to the hospital and sends the rest to the staff room, where Vernon is being reprimanded by the discipline master.

After finishing his story, Ryan and Koon Wah sits down. Mr Tan is shocked by what had happened and starts preaching the class moral values and stuff. At this point of time, Vinci, accompanied by Eugene, enters the class with tears in his eyes (tears are actually eyedrops). Eugene comforts him, and Mr Tan questions Vinci. Vinci declines to answer, but eventually say that he was scolded by the teacher. Vinci returns to his table and hides his face under his arm, apparently weeping. Nicoll and Weng Woh then enters the class with a pissed face, obviously pissed over being scolded. Weng Woh hides his face under his arm like Vinci, and is also apparently weeping.

At this point of time, Mr Tan feels extremely uncomfortable, disappointed, and sad at the chain of events and atmosphere in the class. He continues preaching moral values and talks about how students above 16 can get jailed for fighting. At this moment, Clement and his gang enters the class, and Clement gives a casual wave to Mr Tan. Mr Tan is very very confused and the class's faces of distress starts turning into playful smiles. Clement extends his hand and Mr Tan shakes it, but is still confused. Eddie stands up and shouts Happy April's Fool! in chinese and Mr Tan is STILL shocked. A few seconds later, the reality of being fooled hits him and he breaks into laughter, covering his face with embarrassment, as the whole class responds with a standing ovation, rejoicing their triumph.

He then shares with the class his feelings. Mr Tan thought that the fight really happened and praised our acting skills. =) He also said that he had wanted to cancel the lesson because of the unfortunate incident that occured. And also questioned where Vernon really was. Well.. Truth is.. Vernon was really absent. Lol.. He also passes joking sacarstic remarks like "You good..". He soon resumes with his lesson but cannot help but burst into laughter upon thinking what a fool he was. The light-hearted lesson resumes...

Yupp! A success! April Fool 2005.. That's all.. I'm so very proud of my class! Muahaha.. Though our grades are like =S, but come on lah.. School and life is more than studies right? I am extremely happy over our class spirit and acting skills.. =P I mean, Mr Tan's a really funny guy, and it's April Fool! So why not? Hehe.. So I guess we have 1 more year till the next April Fool.. Hehe.. Teachers better watch out..

Oh by the way, did I mention that the classroom scene was recorded on audio and there's one picture taken on camera phone? Hehe.. Ask and you might receive..

Hello! K a quick one. Yesterday had church, then during lunch time, me, Elias, Christabel, Elizabeth, Samuel, and Ian, had to film some shots for the video. I'm supposed to make a 5 minute advertisement video to help promote the Easter party coming up on the 27th of March. Anyways, after that had TZ, and after TZ went to orchard to meet Min Kai, Qi Kai, and Jun Yu for movie. But in the end ALL of them were late so we had to watch the 5.15 show instead of the 4.15 one. Then while we were walking to the ticketing booth Jun Yu accidentally stepped on Min Kai's slippers and they broke. Lol.. So he was like unable to walk to we bought the tickets and everything. So turned out 5.15 pm also sold out so had to watch 6.45 pm one. Too late for Qi Kai so he didn't watch.

After that went to Royal Sporting House and Min Kai bought this $17 Rider Slippers. It's actually quite nice lah, but he wore it in Lido with his t shirt and shorts so he looked quite suaku. Haha. =D Ate at KFC from 5.45 pm to 6.45 pm cos we had ALOT of time to kill, so we purposely eat slowly and passed the time by looking at people (stupid looking, pretty, muscular, old, whatever). K watched Hitch, which is very funny, a good show. I recommend it. 4/5 stars.

Ok today nothing much. Quite boring. Don't feel like bloggin bout today. I go sleep le. Bye.

Hello everyone! It's me! Lol.. I know this is a super rare update, but yep, it is an update. Sorry for not blogging for ages, really really busy. My blog's music and picture are spoilt, I'll see if I can repair them. Hmm.. Since I've not been blogging for so long, I guess it would be a bit impossible to say everything, so I'll just say things I consider interesting. Not in order.

30 people in my class failed Chemistry! Wahaha.. Only 3 people passed.. Which is kinda sad. Well Miss Mok went like nuts, but who cares? I think she really sucks. She's just a damn b****. Oh and she tore up Ch** H**'s worksheet cos it was crap. Anyway our class really has a bad reputation now cos of many events. For example:

JOH****** and NI**** fought in class, VE**** thrashed up the desks and chairs after school one day cos he was in a bad mood. And Mr Tan our chinese teacher has high expectations of us, wants us to get 80% and above for our test revision exercise and test. So many people didn't achieve the 80% mark for his revision exercise so he asked them to bring their desks out. Luckily I studied. So it was kinda sad, and our form teacher got to know of it. P** put some marker dust on CH** H**'s chair and CH** H** sat on it. So in the end his butt got stained, and our form teacher got to know about it.

In conclusion, our class this term is damn screwed. And our form teacher Mr Tieu is super pissed. I don't know if he's sensitive or what, he's a nice and patient old chap (65 years), but PERHAPS too nice? But he's really a bad teacher I must say, he can't teach for nuts! His lecture is like a hynotizing session, super boring and factual. It's just like one of those boring text recital CDS.. So one day after assembly, he was scolding many of us for sleeping during assembly, then suddenly, something extremely unexpected and strange occured. Interested parties can ask me directly and I'll consider asking you. Cos I feel that I shouldn't like tell everyone.

Our class reputation is bad. So what can we do to improve it? Well, improvement in results is one thing. What else? Yes! Term 2 is music appreciation! Basically every class has to take turns to perform during assembly, something musical. Dance or something. And OBVIOUSLY, just like last year, my band Not Yet will be representing the class, except that this time, it would be much better.. I really hope that we would be able to entertain people and show them that Not Yet is a really passionate and serious band and we're certainly not doing this for fun. =D

What else what else.. Oh Hwa Chong O level results drop lor.. Not my business actually. I believe my seniors all did their best and if they didn't get very good results for the school we can't blame them. I just hope that I can do my best as well and pass this year.. Really scary.. Cos my grades are not what they should be.. Really poor man..

Got 80 for previous maths test, just finished my maths test yesterday, better than expected.. I do hope that I would continue getting good results for my maths tests, so that I can get exempted from my maths exam.. It would really help man.. Especially with the tough promotion criteria.. The principal say until very easy.. but he's not in our shoes.. How would he know?

Nothing much already.. I'll update when I have time.. Thanks for reading!

Hello everyone.. I'm really so sorry for not blogging for such a LONG time.. Sian.. Basically my holidays were very fruitful, now school open le.. Not to be nerdy or what, the promotion criteria for sec 4 is average 70 and above. If not I can't get into HCJC which is very lao kui. My plans for this year is to slack without getting too screwed, meaning slack and get promoted. On days that I have no training, I stay in school to at least finish my homework. Then I'll reach home at around 5 plus. My evening activities are dinner, homework, and TV. Leaving me little time to blog. Super sian and busy, Sunday got church, Friday got piano, almost weekly got band prac.

I am a very busy person.

I'll try to blog more often lah, short entries perhaps. I know I always say this and end up not doing so. Haha. No promise everyone. This is so boring. Sec 4. Zzz. K I'm gonna have breakfast with my ma at Ikea now cos I no longer have Saturday trainings and I'm filial. RIGHT.
